It always helps to put a face to a name! We are delighted to introduce our expert, hardworking team to you. Our publishing recruitment consultants have all worked in publishing or media, have extensive industry knowledge and a large network of contacts. The senior management team here at Atwood Tate have a wealth of previous experience, both in publishing and publishing recruitment.

Claire Law

Managing Director

Claire is the founding director and Managing Director of Atwood Tate. Her early career started in Editorial in B2B publishing before making the move into Rights in Trade book publishing. She worked for Orion and latterly as Rights Manager at Headline before making the leap into publishing recruitment.

Setting up the London office of Inspired Selection, Claire cut her teeth filling specialist publishing vacancies for all types of publishers. She achieved the REC Certificate in 2003 and progressed to become Director before leaving for a short break to pursue other interests.

In 2010, Claire returned to the publishing recruitment arena and set up Atwood Tate. With her trusted team, she has grown the business to offer a range of services including Freelance & Temp as well as Permanent and Contract recruitment for a wide range of publishers nationwide and internationally.

Lynne Willoughby

Director (Marketing and Business Development)

Lynne joined the board of Atwood Tate in January 2011 to help grow the business, to become the leader in publishing recruitment for permanent, contract and temporary roles.

Lynne has many years of experience in publishing, working in production for John Wiley in Chichester as well as Blackwell and Heinemann Publishers in Oxford. As a founder and former director of Inspired Selection, Lynne has a wealth of experience in recruitment as well as publishing.

Lynne currently focuses on business development, marketing and advertising within Atwood Tate.

Jo Bowerman

Director (Finance and Operations)

Jo also joined the board of Atwood Tate in January 2011 to help grow the business.

Jo's publishing experience includes production team management for Sweet and Maxwell in London and working in production for Heinemann Publishers in Oxford. As co- founder and former director of Inspired Selection, Jo has a wealth of experience in recruitment as well as publishing.

Jo currently focuses on finance and operations within Atwood Tate.

Helen Speedy

Associate Director

Helen joined Atwood Tate with over six years' experience of working in publishing, latterly as Rights Executive for Orion Children’s Books. Helen has an excellent understanding of publishing, an MA in Publishing, and is a natural and experienced communicator.

Helen manages the team of consultants working on permanent vacancies across all publishing sectors and her main focus at Atwood Tate is on Senior Management opportunities in all roles and all locations across the UK.

Claire Louise Kemp

Senior Publishing Recruitment Consultant

Claire Louise works in our Oxford office and is a Senior Publishing Recruitment Consultant responsible for placing candidates into all roles from entry level to mid-management across the B2B/B2C, Educational, Literary Agencies, and Trade sectors of publishing in locations across the UK (excluding London, the Home Counties and East Anglia).

Before Atwood Tate, she worked for three years’ with Oxford University Press in Rights. As Senior Rights Assistant she was responsible for selling rights across all the lists within the Children's and Educational divisions. Her previous work experience includes a background in training and customer care, so she is exceptionally well placed to offer both our candidates and clients an informed and valuable service!

Karine Nicpon

Senior Publishing Recruitment Consultant

After completing her MA in Publishing and an extensive intern experience in trade publishing, Karine spent a few years as an Editorial and Legal Assistant at Editions Points in Paris. She was also in charge of the editorial committee and of all the negotiations with foreign publishers and agents. Thanks to this previous experience, she has a solid knowledge of the publishing industry and understands the needs of both clients and candidates.

Karine joined Atwood Tate in September 2013 and looks after Editorial across STM (including Societies and Associations) and B2B/B2C (from graduates to mid-management) in London, the Home Counties and East Anglia.

Olivia Constantinides

Publishing Recruitment Consultant

Olivia has a degree in Philosophy and started her career in publishing working in UK Sales for publishing distributors Abrams and Chronicle, where she honed her client service and account management skills. Client and candidate satisfaction is her top priority and she continues to build on Atwood Tate's reputation for excellence.

Olivia specialises in recruiting for Sales, Marketing, Publicity and Customer Services roles (from graduates to mid-management) in London, the Home Counties and East Anglia.

Christina Dimitriadi

Publishing Recruitment Consultant

Half Greek-half American, Christina has an international background and brings with her years of experience working in STM publishing and sales. She spent two years in the Netherlands where she completed her MSc in International Relations and Diplomacy. Looking for a new challenge that would combine her publishing experience and diplomatic skills, she joined Atwood Tate in December 2015 to cover Catherine’s maternity leave and is now a permanent member of the team.

Her main focus at Atwood Tate is on Rights, International Sales, and Contract roles and Editorial vacancies in Trade, Academic, Educational, Professional, Associations, Charities and Societies publishing (from graduates to mid-management) in London, the Home Counties and East Anglia.

Kellie Millar

Manager (Temps/Freelancers)

Kellie, Manager of our temps / freelance division joined us in May 2013. She brings a wealth of experience in media and publishing recruitment and is used to successfully placing candidates within both print and digital roles. She is also very customer service focused with both candidates and clients alike and is also used to responding quickly to urgent requests. She has a pool of quality temps and freelancers ready and available even at short notice.

Alison Redfearn

Temps/Freelancers Consultant

Alison works with Kellie on the Temps Team as a Recruitment Consultant. Alison has a degree in Business Studies and Human Resources Management as well as a passion for publishing. Before joining Atwood Tate, she was working for Waterstones as a Bookseller, where she was liaising with publishers and authors, participating with book signings and events and keeping up to date with all aspects of the industry. Prior to this, Alison worked within e-commerce recruitment.

Alison joined Atwood Tate in order to combine her strong interest in publishing and previous experience in recruitment to provide the industry with the best temps available!

Michael Lawlor

Temps/Freelance Administrator

Michael studied English at the University of Roehampton before returning to Ireland to undertake a Masters in English at Limerick University. He lived in the west of Ireland for several years before returning to London to seek his fortune. He has previously worked as a Business Support Assistant for a Housing Trust but joined Atwood Tate to gain knowledge and develop skills within the publishing industry.

Michael's focus is providing administrative support to the temps and freelance team and helping to source the best candidates for temp opportunities.

Lucy Slator

Publishing Recruitment Consultant

Lucy has a degree in History and began her publishing career at a children’s publishing house near Leeds, where her passion for publishing developed. Prior to this she worked in Madrid teaching English and attempting to learn Spanish. Lucy moved down to London in 2015 to join Atwood Tate as Administrator before moving into a Consultant position.

She now looks after Production, Production Editorial, Design, Distribution & Operations and Project Management positions across publishing sectors in London, East Anglia and the Home Counties.

Lisa Smars

Publishing Recruitment Consultant

Lisa works in our Oxford office as a Publishing Recruitment Consultant. She primarily focuses on filling roles in Academic, Professional and STM publishing across the UK (excluding London, the Home Counties and East Anglia).

Before joining Atwood Tate, Lisa worked at Oxford University Press in their Children’s and Educational Rights team. She also has a MA in Publishing from Oxford Brookes. Being accustomed to working with publishers all across the globe, Lisa has excellent communication skills, and is used to realising potential.

David Martin

Senior Publishing Recruitment Consultant

David is a Senior Consultant at Atwood Tate and has extensive experience in both the publishing and recruitment industry with a key focus on business areas such as: Digital, Technology, Change & Transformation, Information Security and Data & Analytics.

He started his publishing career as a Corporate Project Leader for Swets Information Services who were a subscription and information agency that worked on behalf of a multitude of publishers. He then went on to work for NLA media access as a Senior Account Manager where he provided collective licensing solutions in order to protect publishing industry's copyright. In June 2014 he left the NLA to pursue a career in recruitment and worked as a consultant for a Digital, Technology and Change & Transformation agency before joining Atwood Tate.

Eleanor Pilcher

Administrator and Social Media Coordinator

Ellie has a degree in History and Creative Writing and entered publishing as a long-term intern at a Literary Agency. The experience solidified her desire to work in the industry upon her graduation and she completed further internships at various trade publishers. She began working at Atwood Tate in July as an Administrator for the Books, Journals and B2B teams.
