Job Description

A temporary Editor/ Sub Editor is required to support a busy team for a period of one month. You will be a strong editor / Sub editor also across digital content. Starting ASAP for one month with possible extensions as may be required.

Key duties:

  • Edit, proofread and create content, as directed by the supervising editor, for print and digital channels, ensuring that content is printed and/or uploaded on time, and within budget
  • Edit, re-write and generate content in line with  style and tone of voice
  • research and conduct interviews as directed
  • manage and upload content to the magazine’s website and organise the fortnightly digital newsletter
  • undertake any other editorial support duties as required
  • Ensure that copy is sub-edited to a high standard, with appropriate headlines, standfirsts and subheads
  • Work with the graphic designer on layouts and ensure that schedules, cost and quality standards are met
  • Prepare print orders and mailing files as required
  • Manage website content and help develop our digital output

Experience / skills required:

  • Good working knowledge of InDesign; MS Word,Excel and Outlook
  • Digitally minded, able to master content management systems
  • Knowledge of how a membership and qualifying body operates would also be beneficial
  • News experience                                                             
  • Substantial experience on a magazine or similar content generating environment
  • Experience in a business, legal or financial environment would be beneficial
