Job Description

Do you have an editorial background within visual arts publishing? Do you have experience commissioning, budgeting and delivering publishing projects on time? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a renowned art centre in central London. Leading a team of two, the successful candidate will publish exhibition catalogues and art books.

Key duties:

  • Develop and oversee publishing strategy, maximising revenue through new opportunities and front/backlists
  • Set publishing schedules and create and maintain budget plans
  • Oversee publishing process from commissioning to design concepts and proofs checking
  • Ensure publications are delivered on time and to budget whilst maintaining high quality standards
  • Raise profile of company through list promotion and networking
  • Line manage publishing team including Sales Manager and Publishing Project Manager

Experience / skills required:

  • Experience working in a senior editorial role within art publishing is required
  • Solid experience commissioning freelancers and delivering projects to deadlines
  • Budgeting experience is necessary
  • Line-management experience would be valuable
  • Excellent editorial and print production skills
  • Strong commercial acumen with a proactive and positive approach to work
