Job Description

Are you an experienced Journals Publishing Manager looking for your next role? A dynamic science and health society based in central London is looking for a Journals Manager to join their small and friendly publishing team and support the running of two journals of equal share both online and in print. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a large membership body on a full-time and permanent basis. If you have an interest in immunology or in a related biomedical discipline, we would love to hear from you!

Key duties:

  • Oversee all editorial functions and ensure all procedures adhere to best practice
  • Lead journal development with the Editors-in-Chief and with support from the Head of Publishing
  • Manage the Editorial Coordinator and build and maintain working relationships with the editorial team and board members
  • Produce a marketing strategy for the journals with the Head of Publishing and marketing team
  • Work with the Editors-in-Chief to compile journal issues and keep updated with the finances in order to budget-manage with the Head of Publishing and Finance Director
  • Identify and commission review content for the journals and represent and promote the society

Experience / skills required:

  • An undergraduate/postgraduate degree or equivalent in an immunological or related biomedical discipline
  • Experience of working in a (and strong understanding of) publishing role
  • Knowledge of society publishing and portfolio development desirable
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time and work to deadline
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrable planning and organisational skills
  • People management experience advantageous but not essential
  • Solid IT skills including the MS Office suite
